Placements24 is seeking an IT Security Administrator to join its operations team in Paarl. The role focuses on day-to-day management and maintenance of the company’s security infrastructure, implementing safeguards, monitoring for threats, and responding to incidents to protect IT assets and data.

This hands-on position requires a practical mindset, solid knowledge of security technologies, and the ability to operate on-site within the Paarl region.

Qualifications

• Diploma or Bachelor's degree in IT or related field.
• 2-4 years of IT support or system administration with a security focus.
• Proficiency with firewalls, IDS, and endpoint security solutions.
• Understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP.
• Experience with Windows and Linux security.
• CompTIA Security+ certification is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Install, configure, and maintain security hardware and software (firewalls, VPNs, antivirus).
• Monitor network and system activity for breaches and policy violations.
• Respond to security alerts and incidents; perform initial investigation and remediation.
• Manage user access controls and permissions to protect data confidentiality and integrity.
• Perform regular vulnerability scans and assist patching/updating systems.
• Assist in developing and implementing security policies and procedures.
• Provide technical support to end-users on security-related issues.
