IT Infrastructure Manager | Zimbabwe | Permanent

Lead the infrastructure strategy that keeps a diversified financial services group connected, secure, resilient and ready for growth. This is an opportunity to shape complex hybrid infrastructure while leading a specialist team across network and cloud environments.

The IT Infrastructure Manager will be responsible for designing, implementing and maintaining resilient, scalable and compliant technology infrastructure across the Group. Reporting to the Group Head of Enterprise Architecture and Infrastructure, the role combines strategic infrastructure planning with operational leadership, architecture, service resilience, risk management and technology implementation.

You will provide direction across network, systems, cloud, virtualisation, data centre and infrastructure solutions, while ensuring technology decisions align with business requirements, security standards, regulatory expectations and the broader infrastructure roadmap. The role also carries responsibility for vendor relationships, infrastructure governance, incident escalation, asset lifecycle management and the continuous improvement of technology services.

The successful candidate will join a diversified financial services organisation with operations spanning banking, insurance, capital markets, property and other financial and advisory services. The environment is complex and highly regulated, requiring technology leaders who can balance innovation and transformation with resilience, security, governance and operational discipline.

What You'll Do
  • Lead the design, implementation and management of resilient enterprise IT infrastructure across network, systems, cloud and data centre environments.

  • Support the development and execution of the Group's infrastructure architecture strategy and technology roadmap.

  • Establish and maintain infrastructure architecture standards, policies, guidelines, processes and technical documentation.

  • Research and evaluate emerging technologies that can improve infrastructure efficiency, scalability, resilience and performance.

  • Design and oversee complex hybrid infrastructure solutions aligned with business, technical and security requirements.

  • Provide infrastructure consultancy and technical input into platform, transformation and technology projects.

  • Oversee the integration and implementation of new technologies and system enhancements through established change management processes.

  • Ensure infrastructure solutions comply with relevant technology, customer, industry, regulatory and organisational standards.

  • Monitor infrastructure capacity and resilience and oversee proactive measures to minimise service disruption.

  • Lead the escalation and resolution of significant infrastructure incidents in accordance with incident management practices.

  • Identify infrastructure risks, address audit exceptions and support effective IT governance and compliance.

  • Manage relationships with technology vendors and service providers, including contract and service agreement negotiations.

  • Oversee the lifecycle management of technology hardware and software assets.

  • Support the design, setup and ongoing operation of complex data centre environments.

  • Lead and mentor the Network Manager and Cloud Architect while supporting the professional development and performance of the wider infrastructure team.

  • Collaborate with technology teams, business stakeholders, subsidiaries, vendors and external service providers to deliver effective infrastructure outcomes.

What You Bring
  • An undergraduate or Honours degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related discipline.

  • At least 5 years' professional experience in technology infrastructure management, including experience managing complex infrastructure environments and solutions.

  • Strong infrastructure design and management capability across enterprise technology environments.

  • Proven experience in network and systems administration.

  • Practical understanding of cloud computing, particularly Microsoft Azure and Amazon Web Services.

  • Knowledge of enterprise virtualisation technologies including VMware vSphere, Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops, and Microsoft Hyper-V.

  • Strong understanding of infrastructure security best practices and technology risk management.

  • Experience managing servers, networks, connectivity, backup environments, system performance and infrastructure upgrades.

  • Experience with infrastructure monitoring, design and management technologies such as SolarWinds, Microsoft Visio, AutoCAD, Puppet and Ansible.

  • Strong technical documentation, reporting, communication and stakeholder management skills.

  • The ability to lead infrastructure projects, manage competing priorities and operate effectively in a high-pressure environment.

  • A practical, customer-focused approach to diagnosing infrastructure challenges and developing sustainable solutions.

  • Relevant professional certifications such as CISSP, PMP, CHAMP or Hardware Asset Management Specialist certification will be advantageous.

  • A Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related field will be advantageous.

What Success Looks Like
  • Infrastructure services are resilient, secure, scalable and aligned with Group business objectives.

  • Network, cloud, systems and data centre environments operate reliably with proactive capacity and performance management.
