Job summary

Placements24 seeks a dedicated IP Legal Counsel with extensive IP law expertise in Nelspruit, Mpumalanga. You will protect patents, trademarks, copyrights, and trade secrets while guiding strategic IP initiatives across the company.

The role involves managing portfolios, conducting due diligence, negotiating licensing agreements, and advising R&D on patentability and freedom-to-operate analyses. A hybrid work setup is offered.

Qualifications

• LLB or-equivalent legal qualification and SA Attorney admission.
• Minimum 6 years in IP law focusing on patent/trademark prosecution and strategy.
• Experience with IP licensing, enforcement, and litigation.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with clear communication.

Responsibilities

• Develop IP strategies to protect company innovations and brand.
• Manage filing, prosecution, and maintenance of patents/trademarks/copyrights globally.
• Conduct IP due diligence for acquisitions, partnerships, and licensing.
• Draft and negotiate IP-related agreements including NDAs and licenses.
• Advise on infringement issues and manage enforcement actions.
• Support R&D on patentability and freedom-to-operate analyses.
• Oversee IP litigation and disputes as needed.
• Stay updated on global IP laws and trends; train internal teams.
