Placements24 in Gauteng is seeking an experienced Farm Operations Manager to oversee day-to-day livestock and crop farming, ensuring integrated practices, productivity, and animal welfare. You will lead a large team, manage breeding, planting, budgets, and compliance with regulations, while applying modern farm-management software.

A Bachelor's in Agriculture or Animal Science is required; a Master's is a plus, with 10+ years in farm management.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Agriculture, Animal Science, Agronomy, or related field.
• Master's degree is a plus.
• 10+ years of proven farm management experience.
• Experience managing large teams and budgets.
• Knowledge of animal husbandry, crop science, soil management, and integrated pest management.
• Proficiency with farm management software and standard office applications.

Responsibilities

• Direct and coordinate all activities related to livestock management, including breeding, feeding, health, and welfare programs.
• Oversee all crop production cycles, from land preparation and planting to harvesting and storage.
• Develop and implement operational plans to maximize yield and profitability for both livestock and crops.
• Manage farm staff, including recruitment, training, scheduling, and performance evaluation.
• Ensure compliance with relevant agricultural regulations, safety standards, and environmental protection policies.
• Monitor farm equipment and infrastructure, arranging for maintenance and repairs as needed.
• Manage farm budgets, control expenses, and maintain accurate operational records.
• Implement and promote best practices in integrated farming systems to enhance soil fertility and reduce waste.
• Liaise with suppliers, distributors, and veterinary professionals.
