Qualifications

• Matric or equivalent; a relevant diploma or certification in insurance or claims handling is preferred.
• Minimum 3 years of experience as an Insurance Claims Assessor or in a closely related role.
• In-depth knowledge of insurance policies, claims procedures, and relevant legislation.
• Excellent analytical, investigative, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong negotiation and communication abilities.
• Proficiency in claims management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively in a demanding environment.
• Attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy in assessments.
• Valid driver's license and willingness to travel for inspections within the Paarl region.

Responsibilities

• Investigate insurance claims thoroughly by examining policy details, relevant documents, and evidence.
• Conduct on-site inspections to assess the extent of damage to property or other insured items.
• Interview claimants, witnesses, and other relevant parties to gather information.
• Determine liability and assess the value of claims based on policy terms and repair/replacement costs.
• Negotiate settlements with claimants or their representatives.
• Document all findings, assessments, and decisions accurately in the claims management system.
• Ensure claims handling processes comply with regulatory requirements and company procedures.
• Liaise with repairers, assessors, and other third parties as necessary.
• Identify and report potential fraudulent claims for further investigation.
• Manage a caseload of claims efficiently, adhering to timelines and service level agreements.
