Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a highly experienced Senior Construction Project Manager for major infrastructure projects in the Nelspruit region. You will oversee planning, procurement, on-site execution, and quality control to deliver roads, bridges and public works safely, on time, and within budget.

The ideal candidate has a civil engineering background, at least 10 years in infrastructure project delivery, with strong leadership, contract administration, and proficiency in MS Project or Primavera

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related construction management field.
• Minimum 10 years of progressive experience in construction project management.
• Proven experience managing large-scale civil engineering projects (roads, bridges, dams, public facilities) with budgets exceeding R20 million.
• In-depth knowledge of construction methods, materials, safety regulations, and relevant building codes.
• Experience with contract administration and dispute resolution.
• Strong leadership, team management, and communication skills.
• Proficiency in project management software (MS Project, Primavera P6).
• Professional Engineer (Pr Eng) or Professional Construction Manager (Pr CM) registration is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Lead the planning, execution, and closeout of major construction and infrastructure projects.
• Develop comprehensive project plans, including scope definition, scheduling, budgeting, and resource allocation.
• Manage all on-site construction activities, ensuring adherence to safety regulations, quality standards, and environmental policies.
• Oversee procurement processes, including tendering, contractor selection, and contract management.
• Monitor project progress, identify potential risks and issues, and implement timely mitigation strategies.
• Ensure effective communication and coordination among project teams, subcontractors, clients, and regulatory bodies.
• Manage project budgets, track expenditures, and authorize payments, ensuring financial targets are met.
• Conduct regular site inspections and progress meetings to ensure project quality and compliance.
• Prepare detailed project reports, including status updates, financial summaries, and performance analyses.
