Job summary

TÜV Rheinland Group in the Industry Service & Cybersecurity unit is seeking a Senior Civil & Structural Engineer to build and lead the Infrastructure Inspection & Integrity Department in South Africa.

You will define service lines, inspection methodologies, standards frameworks, reporting templates, and the team to deliver them, establishing TÜV Rheinland as an independent provider of civil/structural inspection and integrity services.

Qualifications

• BSc/BEng in Civil or Structural Engineering; PrEng or PrTechEng eligibility, 8 years in civil/structural engineering.
• Strong experience in structural inspection, condition assessment and asset integrity of infrastructure and buildings.
• Entrepreneurial mindset, ability to build a department and lead a team, plus strong report writing and analytical skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Infrastructure Inspection & Integrity Department from the ground up, defining service lines, methodologies, standards and reporting templates.
• Deliver independent civil/structural condition assessments and integrity evaluations for bridges, buildings, rail, airports and facilities.
• Establish BIM as a service (Scan-to-BIM, as-built modelling, clash detection) and support whole-life asset management for clients.
• Support project supervision and advisory tenders, provide design review and verification, and coordinate with clients and authorities.
