Qualifications

About the Role

Our client, a prominent manufacturing facility located in Cape Town, Western Cape, is seeking a skilled and experienced Industrial Maintenance Technician with a specialization in HVAC systems. This role is crucial for ensuring the optimal functioning and reliability of our plant's environmental control systems, which are vital for production quality and safety. You will be responsible for the preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of a wide range of HVAC equipment within the industrial setting. This position requires hands‑on expertise and a commitment to maintaining a safe and efficient working environment. The successful candidate will become an integral part of our operations team in Cape Town, contributing directly to the plant's success.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform routine preventative maintenance on all industrial HVAC systems, including chillers, boilers, air handling units, and ventilation systems.
• Diagnose and repair complex mechanical and electrical issues related to HVAC equipment.
• Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and maintenance manuals to perform installations and repairs.
• Conduct system performance testing and adjustments to ensure optimal efficiency and temperature control.
• Respond promptly to emergency maintenance requests and perform necessary repairs to minimize downtime.
• Maintain accurate records of all maintenance and repair activities using the company's CMMS.
• Ensure compliance with all safety regulations, codes, and company policies during maintenance operations.
• Collaborate with other maintenance staff and production teams to coordinate repair schedules and minimize disruption.
• Participate in training programs to stay updated on the latest HVAC technologies and maintenance techniques.
• Operate and maintain a variety of hand and power tools, as well as specialized diagnostic equipment.

Requirements

• Proven experience as an Industrial Maintenance Technician with a strong focus on HVAC systems.
• Trade qualification or certification in HVAC or a related field.
• In-depth knowledge of industrial refrigeration, air conditioning, heating, and ventilation principles.
• Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing mechanical, electrical, and control system issues for HVAC equipment.
• Ability to read and understand complex technical diagrams and schematics.
• Experience with Building Management Systems (BMS) or similar control platforms.
• Strong understanding of safety procedures and practices in an industrial environment.
• Excellent troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills.
• Physical ability to work in various industrial environments, including heights and confined spaces, and lift heavy equipment.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation to the Cape Town facility.
