Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an experienced Industrial Maintenance Electrician for a leading manufacturer in George, Western Cape. You will maintain heavy machinery, electrical installations, and control systems, upholding safety standards and preventative maintenance to maximize uptime.

Working alongside production and engineering teams, you will read schematics, implement upgrades, and keep detailed maintenance records.

Qualifications

• Trade Qualification as Electrician (Wireman’s License or equivalent).
• Minimum 5 years' experience in industrial maintenance electrical work.
• Experience with industrial control systems, VFDs, MCCs, and PLCs.
• Strong high/low voltage safety knowledge and procedures.
• Ability to troubleshoot complex electrical faults using diagnostic tools.
• Proficient in reading schematics and technical drawings.
• Excellent problem-solving and teamwork abilities.
• Willingness to relocate to George, Western Cape.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine electrical maintenance, inspections, and testing on industrial machinery, motors, control panels, and power distribution systems.
• Diagnose and repair electrical faults, malfunctions, and breakdowns efficiently and safely.
• Install, wire, and commission new electrical equipment and control systems in accordance with design specifications and safety regulations.
• Implement and manage preventative maintenance schedules for all electrical systems to minimize downtime.
• Read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals to guide repair and installation activities.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant electrical codes, safety standards, and company policies.
• Assist in the development and implementation of electrical system upgrades and improvements.
• Respond to urgent electrical issues during operational hours and potentially during off-hours for critical repairs.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and parts inventory.

Requirements

• Proven experience with industrial control systems, variable frequency drives (VFDs), motor control centers (MCCs), and Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs).
• Strong understanding of high and low voltage electrical systems and safety procedures.
• Ability to troubleshoot complex electrical problems using diagnostic tools and testing equipment.
• Proficiency in reading and understanding electrical schematics and technical drawings.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Good communication and teamwork abilities.
• Must reside in or be willing to relocate to the George, Western Cape area.
• Knowledge of safety protocols such as lockout/tagout procedures is essential.
