Placements24 is seeking an experienced Industrial Electrical Engineer in George, Western Cape, to design, install, maintain, and troubleshoot electrical systems in our industrial facilities.

The role involves a hybrid work arrangement with on-site engagement and opportunities for off-site design and analysis. The candidate should have a hands-on approach to ensure reliability and efficiency of plant electrical systems and safety compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering in a related field.
• Minimum 4 years of industrial electrical engineering experience.
• Strong understanding of control systems, PLCs, HMIs, and SCADA.
• Experience reading electrical schematics and blueprints.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and modify electrical systems and control panels for industrial machinery and processes.
• Perform preventive maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on electrical equipment, PLCs, VFDs, and MCCs.
• Ensure all electrical installations comply with safety standards and codes.
• Develop and maintain electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical documentation.
• Troubleshoot faults and implement corrective actions to minimize downtime.
• Collaborate with production teams to identify electrical improvements and energy efficiency.
• Oversee contractors and technicians on electrical projects and maintenance.
• Conduct risk assessments for electrical hazards and implement safety protocols.
• Manage spare parts inventory for critical components.
• Stay updated on new technologies in industrial electrical engineering.

About the Role

Our client, a prominent manufacturing and processing company in George, Western Cape , is seeking an experienced Industrial Electrical Engineer . This role is integral to maintaining and enhancing the electrical infrastructure that powers our operations. You will be responsible for the design, installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of electrical systems within our industrial facilities. The position involves a hybrid work arrangement, requiring regular on-site presence to manage operations and engage with maintenance teams, alongside opportunities for off‑site design and analysis work. We are looking for a hands‑on engineer who can ensure the reliability and efficiency of our plant's electrical systems, contributing directly to our production output and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and modify electrical systems and control panels for industrial machinery and processes.
• Perform preventative maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on electrical equipment, PLCs, VFDs, and motor control centers.
• Ensure all electrical installations and upgrades comply with safety regulations, codes, and industry best practices.
• Develop and maintain electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical documentation.

• Experience with troubleshooting electrical issues in a manufacturing environment.
• Knowledge of relevant safety standards (e.g., OHSA, SANS).
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
• Familiarity with electrical design software is advantageous.
• Must be based in or able to commute regularly to George, Western Cape .
