About the Role

Our client, a prominent manufacturing facility, is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Industrial Maintenance Electrician to join their operations in George, Western Cape . This critical role is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing the electrical systems and equipment that drive the company's production processes. You will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of the plant by minimizing electrical downtime and implementing proactive maintenance strategies. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of industrial electrical codes, safety procedures, and a proven ability to work with various types of electrical machinery. This is a hands‑on position requiring attention to detail and a commitment to safety and quality in the George area. You will be expected to work closely with the maintenance team and production staff to identify and resolve electrical challenges promptly.

Key Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, and repair electrical systems, power distribution, and control panels for industrial machinery.
• Troubleshoot and diagnose electrical faults using appropriate testing equipment and diagnostic tools.
• Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on electrical equipment to identify potential issues before they cause failures.
• Read and interpret complex electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals.
• Ensure all electrical work complies with relevant safety regulations, building codes, and industry standards.
• Work with PLCs, VFDs, and other control systems to maintain and optimize equipment performance.

• Operate a variety of hand and power tools, as well as specialized electrical testing equipment.
• Participate in safety training and adhere to all workplace safety procedures in the Western Cape facility.

Requirements

• A qualified Electrician with a relevant trade certificate (e.g., NQF Level 3 or equivalent).
• A minimum of 4 years of experience working as an Industrial Electrician in a manufacturing or production environment.
• Solid knowledge of industrial electrical systems, including high and low voltage distribution, motor controls, and lighting.
• Experience with Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) and Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) is essential.
• Proficiency in reading and understanding electrical diagrams, blueprints, and schematics.
• Strong troubleshooting abilities and a systematic approach to problem-solving.
• Knowledge of safety procedures and regulations related to electrical work in industrial settings.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast‑paced environment.
• Good communication skills and the ability to report issues clearly and concisely.
• Must be able to work shifts if required and be available for emergency call‑outs in the George area.
