The ideal candidate has 4+ years in industrial instrumentation, familiarity with Rosemount, Yokogawa and Emerson, reads P&ID diagrams, and is committed to safety.

Competenze

About the Role

Our client, a major player in the petrochemical and industrial sector, is seeking an experienced Industrial Instrumentation Technician to join their operational team in Richards Bay, KwaZulu-Natal. This critical role involves the installation, calibration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of a wide range of industrial instrumentation used in process control. You will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy, reliability, and safety of measurement and control devices, including transmitters, control valves, sensors, and analysers. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of industrial processes, a meticulous approach to work, and a commitment to safety and quality standards within the Richards Bay industrial environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Install, calibrate, and maintain various types of industrial instrumentation, including pressure, temperature, flow, and level transmitters.
• Troubleshoot and repair instrumentation and control systems to minimize downtime and ensure process stability.
• Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on instrumentation equipment.
• Read and interpret P&ID diagrams, loop diagrams, and technical manuals.
• Work with control valves, actuators, and associated instrumentation.
• Ensure all instrumentation work complies with relevant safety regulations and company procedures.
• Calibrate instruments using appropriate test equipment and procedures.
• Assist in the start-up and commissioning of new instrumentation and control systems.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, calibration results, and spare parts inventory.
• Collaborate with engineers and operators to identify and resolve instrumentation-related issues.
• Participate in safety meetings and contribute to a strong safety culture on site.

Requirements

• Minimum of 4 years of experience as an Industrial Instrumentation Technician in a process plant or heavy industrial environment.
• Strong knowledge of instrumentation principles, including pneumatic, electronic, and digital control systems.
• Proficiency in calibrating and maintaining various types of instruments (e.g., Rosemount, Yokogawa, Emerson).
• Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, electrical schematics, and instrumentation loop diagrams.
• Experience with troubleshooting control valves and associated actuators.
• Familiarity with safety procedures and regulations in industrial settings.
• A relevant technical qualification or trade certificate in Instrumentation or a related field is required.
• Must possess a valid driver's license and be available to work within the Richards Bay area.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Good communication and teamwork abilities.
