Placements24 is seeking a meticulous Instrumentation Technician to support key power generation facilities in Pretoria. The role covers installation, calibration, maintenance, and repair of instrumentation and control devices essential for plant safety and efficiency.

You will read P&IDs, calibrate transmitters, service valves and actuators, and ensure compliance with safety and quality standards while maintaining thorough maintenance records.

Qualifications

• National Diploma or equivalent qualification in Instrumentation, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience as an Instrumentation Technician in a power plant or heavy industrial setting.
• Proficiency in calibrating and maintaining instruments from various manufacturers.
• Strong understanding of process control loops and troubleshooting techniques.
• Knowledge of hazardous area classifications and associated safety procedures.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong commitment to safety.

Responsibilities

• Install, calibrate, and maintain various process instruments, including pressure, temperature, flow, and level transmitters.
• Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on control valves, actuators, and associated pneumatic and electronic systems.
• Troubleshoot instrumentation and control loop issues, identifying root causes and implementing effective solutions.
• Read and interpret P&IDs, electrical schematics, and technical manuals to perform duties.
• Ensure all work is performed in accordance with safety regulations, plant procedures, and quality standards.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, calibration results, and spare parts inventory.
