Placements24 is seeking a Junior Industrial Engineer Intern in Soweto, Gauteng. You will assist senior engineers with analyzing production processes, data collection, and opportunities for efficiency improvements on the factory floor.

The role focuses on Lean initiatives, SOP development, and continuous improvement projects, offering hands-on training in a supportive environment with mentorship.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering or related field, soon to graduate.
• Strong understanding of fundamental industrial engineering principles.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Proficient with Excel and Microsoft Office.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Eagerness to learn in a hands-on environment.
• Team player with ability to work on the factory floor.
• Legally eligible to work in South Africa.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the analysis of manufacturing and operational processes.
• Collect and organize data related to production efficiency, quality, and costs.
• Support the implementation of Lean manufacturing tools and techniques under supervision.
• Help develop and update standard operating procedures (SOPs) and work instructions.
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and Kaizen events.
• Assist in measuring and monitoring key performance indicators (KPIs).
• Provide support in the design and layout of workstations and production areas.
• Conduct basic research on industrial engineering best practices and technologies.
• Collaborate with production teams and senior engineers to resolve operational issues.
• Ensure adherence to safety and quality standards.
