Placements24 is seeking a Field Maintenance Engineer in Centurion, Gauteng. This hybrid role blends on-site engagement with remote flexibility to maintain complex industrial machinery across sites.

You will install, diagnose, repair, and service mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems, perform preventative maintenance, and ensure safety and uptime. Travel to client sites is required, and you will collaborate with production teams to optimize performance while adhering to strict safety

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years in mechanical or electrical maintenance engineering within an industrial setting.
• Strong knowledge of industrial machinery, control systems, and maintenance procedures.
• Ability to read and interpret technical diagrams and schematics.
• Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
• Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to various client sites within the region.
• Relevant technical qualification (e.g., N6, Diploma in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering).
• Familiarity with safety protocols and regulations in industrial environments.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine inspections, diagnostics, and preventative maintenance on a variety of industrial equipment.
• Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
• Install new machinery and equipment according to specifications and safety standards.
• Respond promptly to emergency maintenance requests and minimize operational disruption.
• Interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics to perform maintenance tasks.
• Maintain accurate maintenance logs and reports using company systems.
• Collaborate with production and engineering teams to identify and implement process improvements.
• Ensure all work performed adheres to strict safety regulations and company policies.
• Provide technical guidance and support to junior maintenance staff.
