Formación

About the Role

Our client, a major player in the food and beverage manufacturing industry, requires an experienced Industrial Control Systems (ICS) Technician for their facility in Paarl, Western Cape. This critical role focuses on the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and upgrading of the plant's automated control systems, including PLCs, HMIs, SCADA, and associated hardware and software. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical skills in industrial electronics, programming logic, and network communications within an industrial setting. You will play a key role in ensuring the efficiency, safety, and reliability of our automated production processes.

Key Responsibilities

• Install, configure, and commission Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), Human-Machine Interfaces (HMIs), and Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems.
• Perform regular preventative maintenance and diagnostic checks on all industrial control systems.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues related to PLC programming, hardware failures, and network communication problems.
• Modify and update PLC code and HMI configurations as required for process improvements or system upgrades.
• Interpret electrical schematics, control logic diagrams, and technical documentation.
• Ensure all control system installations and modifications comply with safety standards, industry regulations, and company policies.
• Collaborate with engineering and production teams to identify and implement solutions for process automation challenges.
• Maintain accurate documentation of control system configurations, changes, and maintenance records.
• Participate in on-call rotations to provide support for urgent issues outside of standard working hours in Paarl, Western Cape.

Requirements

• Technical qualification or degree in Industrial Automation, Electrical Engineering Technology, or a related field.
• Minimum of 4 years of hands-on experience with industrial control systems (PLC, HMI, SCADA).
• Proficiency with programming and troubleshooting common PLC platforms (e.g., Siemens S7, Allen-Bradley ControlLogix/CompactLogix).
• Experience with HMI/SCADA software and configuration (e.g., FactoryTalk View, WinCC).
• Strong understanding of industrial networking protocols (e.g., Ethernet/IP, Profibus, Modbus).
• Ability to read and interpret electrical and control system schematics.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Good communication and teamwork abilities.
• Must be willing to work flexible hours and respond to emergency call-outs in Paarl, Western Cape.
• Valid driver's licence.
