About the Role

Our client, a leading manufacturer in the industrial sector, is seeking an experienced Industrial Controls and Automation Technician to join their team in **Pietermaritzburg**. This critical role involves the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and optimization of automated control systems for manufacturing processes. You will work with PLCs, HMIs, robotics, and other automation hardware and software to ensure efficient and reliable production. Key Responsibilities

• Install, program, and maintain Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) and Human-Machine Interfaces (HMIs).
• Troubleshoot and repair issues with industrial automation systems, including robotics, servo drives, and sensors.
• Read and interpret electrical schematics, control system diagrams, and mechanical drawings.
• Perform preventative maintenance on control systems to ensure optimal performance and minimize downtime.
• Collaborate with engineering and production teams to implement process improvements and upgrades.
• Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and company standards for industrial environments.
• Develop and update control system documentation, including program backups and operational manuals.

Requirements

• Minimum of 4 years of experience as an Industrial Controls Technician or Automation Specialist.
• Proven experience with PLC programming and troubleshooting (e.g., Siemens, Allen-Bradley).

• Strong understanding of industrial electrical systems, motor controls, and power distribution.
