Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an Information Security Analyst in Benoni, Gauteng. You will join a dedicated incident response team to detect, analyze, and respond to security events using SIEM, EDR, and IDS/IPS while collaborating with IT and management.

The role requires a bachelor's degree in a related field and at least 3 years of information security experience, with optional certifications such as Security+, CEH, or GCIH. Hybrid work arrangement available in the East Rand region.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS or Information Security or related field.
• Certifications like CompTIA Security+, CEH, or GCIH are advantageous.
• Minimum of 3 years in information security, focusing on incident response or security operations.
• Hands-on experience with security monitoring tools (SIEM, IDS/IPS, EDR).
• Understanding of attack vectors, malware analysis and digital forensics.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities; excellent communication and documentation skills.
• Experience in a hybrid work environment and willingness for on-call rotation.

Responsibilities

• Monitor security alerts and events from SIEM, IDS/IPS, and EDR tools.
• Analyze incidents to determine scope, impact, and root cause.
• Respond to incidents following established procedures in a timely manner.
• Conduct forensic analysis to gather evidence and identify attack vectors.
• Collaborate with IT, legal, and management during incident response activities.
• Develop and maintain incident response playbooks and documentation.
• Provide guidance for security remediation efforts.
• Participate in threat hunting to proactively identify compromises.
• Stay current with security threats and industry best practices.
• Contribute to ongoing improvement of the incident response program.
