Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an experienced In-House Counsel to join our legal team in a fully remote capacity serving the Cape Town region. You will provide practical legal support across departments and ensure alignment with regulatory frameworks.

You will handle commercial agreements, governance, risk, and external counsel management, while contributing to policy development and training. The role requires independent, proactive work in a dynamic, remote environment.

Qualifications

• LLB degree or equivalent legal qualification.
• Admission as a legal practitioner in South Africa.
• At least 6 years of experience in reputable law firm or as in-house counsel.
• Strong understanding of contract, corporate law and industry regulations.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; able to explain complex legal concepts.
• Ability to work autonomously and manage multiple priorities remotely.

Responsibilities

• Provide timely and practical legal advice on day-to-day operations and strategic initiatives.
• Review and draft commercial agreements (service, vendor, partnership).
• Advise on corporate governance, compliance, and risk management.
• Manage external legal counsel and litigation when necessary, ensuring cost-effectiveness.
• Conduct legal research and prepare memoranda on evolving legal landscapes.
