Placements24 in Centurion, Gauteng, seeks an experienced In-house Legal Counsel specializing in commercial contracts. You will draft, review, and negotiate high‑volume agreements and advise on legal risks across sales, procurement, and product teams.

The role focuses on developing standard templates, managing contract lifecycles, and coordinating with external counsel to ensure compliant, business‑friendly contracts that support growth.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from a reputable university.
• Admitted as an Attorney or Advocate in South Africa.
• Minimum of 5 years in commercial contract law, in-house or advising corporates.
• Proven drafting and negotiation of complex commercial agreements.
• Strong knowledge of corporate law, IP, and data privacy.

Responsibilities

• Draft, review, negotiate, and manage a high volume of commercial contracts (service agreements, NDAs, licenses, partnerships).
• Advise stakeholders on legal risks and compliance related to contract terms.
• Develop and maintain standard contract templates and playbooks.
• Conduct legal research on contractual issues and industry regulations.
• Collaborate with external counsel when specialized expertise is needed.
• Support contract management processes and systems implementation.
• Provide training to business teams on contract best practices and compliance.
• Ensure contracts align with policies, risk tolerance, and objectives.
• Manage contract lifecycle including renewals, amendments, and terminations.
