Placements24 is recruiting a Rural Development Facilitator to empower communities in the Mossel Bay region. This field-based role focuses on sustainable development, livelihoods, and social cohesion, working with farmers, local leaders, and stakeholders.

The successful candidate will identify needs, plan and implement projects, provide training, monitor progress, and report outcomes while travel within the Mossel Bay area is required.

Qualifications

• Degree or Diploma in Rural Development, Agriculture, Social Sciences or related field.
• Minimum 3 years' experience in community development, preferably in a rural context.
• Proven ability to facilitate participatory development processes and manage projects.
• Strong understanding of rural livelihoods, agriculture, and socio-economic challenges.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills.
• Ability to work independently in remote and rural settings.
• Proficiency in data collection, analysis, and report writing.
• Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel within Mossel Bay region.

Responsabilités

• Conduct participatory rural appraisals to identify community needs, assets, and development priorities.
• Plan and implement rural development projects, including agricultural, infrastructural, and livelihood initiatives.
• Build and maintain relationships with farmers, community groups, local government, and other stakeholders in Mossel Bay.
• Provide technical support and training to community members on relevant development practices.
• Monitor project progress, document activities and outcomes, and prepare reports.
• Promote sustainable agricultural practices and environmental stewardship.
• Facilitate community dialogues and decision-making to ensure local ownership.
• Identify opportunities for market access and economic development for rural producers.
• Act as a liaison between the community and the organization with effective communication.
• Advocate for the rights of rural communities.
