Placements24 is assisting a dedicated special needs school in George, Western Cape, to hire a Special Education Teacher. The role focuses on creating and implementing individualized education plans and delivering tailored instruction to students with learning disabilities.

Qualifications

• A recognized qualification in Special Education or related field.
• Experience with children with diverse learning disabilities (e.g., dyslexia, ADHD, autism).
• Proficiency in developing and implementing IEPs.
• Excellent observational, assessment, and diagnostic skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal abilities with students, parents, and colleagues.
• Patience, empathy and a genuine passion for supporting students with special needs.
• Familiarity with assistive technologies and special education resources.
• Must be based in or able to commute to George, Western Cape.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) for students with learning disabilities.
• Provide specialized instruction tailored to meet the unique needs of each student.
• Assess student progress regularly and adjust teaching strategies accordingly.
• Collaborate with parents, therapists, and other professionals to support student development.
• Create a safe, encouraging, and inclusive classroom environment.
• Utilize a variety of teaching methods and assistive technologies to enhance learning.
• Maintain detailed records of student performance, behavior, and progress towards IEP goals.
• Promote social and emotional development alongside academic achievement.
