Job summary

Placements24 on behalf of a respected engineering consultancy seeks a Water Resources Engineer to join its Bloemfontein team. The role focuses on managing water infrastructure across the Free State, including sustainable water supply and wastewater management, with a hybrid mix of site and office work in Bloemfontein.

You will analyze hydrology, design dams and treatment plants, develop water balance models, assess environmental impacts, and collaborate with government agencies and communities

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering with a Water Resources specialization.
• Minimum 6 years of experience in water resources engineering and management.
• Proficiency in hydrological and hydraulic modeling software (e.g., HEC-RAS, EPANET).
• Solid understanding of water law, environmental regulations, and sustainable water practices in South Africa.
• Experience in project management and stakeholder engagement.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Responsibilities

• Undertake hydrological and hydraulic analyses for water resource management projects.
• Design and supervise water infrastructure (dams, pipelines, canals, treatment plants).
• Develop water balance models and basin/catchment management plans.
• Assess environmental impacts of water resource development and mitigate.
• Collaborate with environmental scientists, government agencies, and communities.
• Prepare technical reports, EIAs, and project proposals.
