Job summary

Placements24 in Pretoria, Gauteng, seeks a meticulous Transport Planner & Scheduler to optimize routes, schedules and resource use within a hybrid work setup. The role supports operations across the region, balancing cost, efficiency and service levels through data-driven planning.

You will work with warehousing, sales and customer service to ensure seamless shipments, applying analytical methods and adhering to SA transport regulations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Operations Research, or related field.
• Minimum 4 years of transport planning or logistics scheduling experience.
• Experience with transport planning software and TMS.
• Familiarity with South African transportation laws and regulations.
• Hybrid work environment experience and Pretoria office attendance.

Responsibilities

• Develop and manage daily, weekly, and monthly transport plans.
• Optimize routes and schedules using planning software to minimize transit times and fuel use.
• Allocate vehicles and drivers to meet operational demands and SLAs.
• Monitor real-time transport operations and adjust plans for delays.
• Collaborate with warehouse, customer service, and sales to coordinate shipments.
• Analyze transport data to identify trends and cost-saving opportunities.
• Ensure compliance with transportation regulations including driver hours and vehicle safety.
• Prepare performance reports on transport efficiency and costs.
• Maintain records of transport activities including planned vs actual timings and costs.
• Liaise with third-party logistics providers and carriers as needed.
