Placements24 in Welkom is seeking a Junior Telecoms Network Administrator to join the IT department. This hybrid role offers hands-on experience in managing telecommunications networks and supporting a senior team while learning best practices in network security.

You will assist with daily administration, troubleshooting, and routine maintenance, gaining exposure to routers, switches, and firewalls as you grow in a collaborative, learning-focused environment.

Qualifications

• Completed degree or National Certificate in Information Technology, Computer Networking, or a related field.
• Basic understanding of networking concepts, TCP/IP, DNS, and DHCP.
• Familiarity with network hardware such as routers, switches, and firewalls.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and a keen attention to detail.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a team and communicate effectively.
• Eagerness to learn and adapt to new technologies within the telecommunications field.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the day-to-day administration and monitoring of the company's telecommunications network.
• Help troubleshoot and resolve network connectivity issues for end-users and systems.
• Perform routine network maintenance tasks, including software updates and configuration backups.
• Monitor network performance and identify potential issues or bottlenecks.
• Support the installation and configuration of new network hardware and devices.
• Learn and apply network security best practices under the guidance of senior staff in Welkom.
