Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an experienced Telecom Network Engineer II to design, implement, and manage our client’s network infrastructure in Upington. This hybrid role blends office-based tasks with remote flexibility to support a high-capacity network.

You will ensure performance, reliability, and security across services for diverse users, collaborating with cross-functional teams and enabling capacity upgrades as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, or a related field.
• 3-5 years of experience in network engineering, preferably within telecommunications.
• Proficiency with TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, and MPLS.
• Experience with network monitoring tools and troubleshooting methodologies.
• Understanding of network security principles and best practices.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; able to work independently and in a team.

Responsibilities

• Design, configure, and deploy network solutions including routers, switches, firewalls, and other network devices.
• Monitor network performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement solutions to enhance speed and reliability.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex network issues, ensuring minimal downtime and impact on services.
• Develop and maintain network documentation, including diagrams, configurations, and operational procedures.
• Participate in network capacity planning and upgrade projects to meet growing demands.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate new technologies and services into the network.
