Placements24 in Upington is seeking a reliable Systems Administrator to join our IT operations team. You will install, configure, maintain, and support server infrastructure and operating systems across Windows and Linux environments.

The role requires strong networking knowledge, virtualization experience (VMware, Hyper-V), and hardware troubleshooting. You will provide end-user support and contribute to the stability and performance of our IT systems.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
2+ years of experience in systems administration.
Proficiency with Windows Server and/or Linux operating systems.
Experience with server hardware, virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper‑V), and storage solutions.
Solid understanding of networking concepts and protocols.
Strong troubleshooting skills and a commitment to providing excellent user support.

Responsibilities

Install, configure, and maintain Windows and/or Linux server operating systems.
Manage user accounts, permissions, and access controls across various systems.
Monitor system performance, identify and resolve issues, and implement preventative measures.
Perform regular system backups and disaster recovery operations.
Manage network services such as Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and file sharing.
Provide technical support to end-users for hardware, software, and system-related issues.
