Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a skilled Solar PV System Designer in Stellenbosch. The role involves translating client needs into detailed, efficient solar designs, from concept to completion, working with sales, engineers and installation teams.

The ideal candidate holds a bachelor's degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering (or related field) and at least 3 years of solar design experience, proficient in PVSyst, Aurora Solar, HelioScope and CAD tools. Hybrid work is offered.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience designing solar PV systems.
• Proficiency with solar design software and CAD tools.
• Strong understanding of PV components, electrical principles and safety practices.
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to produce comprehensive design documentation.
• Familiarity with Western Cape/South Africa electrical codes is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Design residential, commercial, and industrial solar PV systems using design software.
• Create detailed layouts, single-line diagrams, wiring schematics and BOMs.
• Perform site-specific analyses considering shading and structural constraints.
• Ensure designs comply with electrical codes and interconnection requirements.
• Collaborate with sales and project teams to refine designs.
• Provide technical support to installation teams during construction.
