Placements24 is seeking an experienced Operations Manager to oversee oil and gas processing facilities in the Vereeniging region. The role blends strategic oversight with hands-on site leadership to drive safe, efficient, and profitable operations.

You will lead a diverse team of engineers and technicians, manage budgets, ensure regulatory compliance, and push for continuous improvement across maintenance, safety, and production processes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
• Master's degree or MBA is advantageous.
• Minimum 10 years of progressive experience in operations management within oil & gas, petrochemical, or related industries.

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day operations of oil and gas processing plants, terminals, and related infrastructure.
• Ensure all operations are safe, environmentally responsible, and compliant with regulations.
• Develop and implement strategies to optimize production, minimize downtime, and control costs.
• Oversee maintenance and integrity of plant equipment and systems, coordinating with maintenance teams.
• Manage operational budgets, forecasting, and financial performance; identify cost savings.
• Lead and develop a team of supervisors, engineers, and technicians for high performance.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental, and security regulations.
• Manage emergency response preparedness and execution.
• Collaborate with engineering, maintenance, commercial, and HSEQ to ensure project execution.
• Monitor KPIs and implement corrective actions to hit targets.
