Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Senior Financial Accountant for its Johannesburg-based role with a hybrid work model, combining in-office collaboration and remote flexibility.

The ideal candidate will bring at least 5 years of progressive financial accounting experience, strong IFRS knowledge, and proficiency with SAP, Oracle or QuickBooks and advanced Excel, along with SA tax law understanding.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; professional certification such as CA(SA), ACCA, or CIMA highly preferred.
• At least 5 years of progressive experience in financial accounting roles.
• In-depth knowledge of IFRS.
• Proficiency in accounting software (SAP, Oracle, QuickBooks) and advanced Excel.
• Strong understanding of South African tax laws and company legislation.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and manage all aspects of financial accounting including AP, AR, GL, and payroll.
• Prepare and analyse monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements per IFRS.
• Develop and maintain financial models and forecasts for strategic decisions.
• Conduct variance analysis and provide commentary on performance.
• Ensure compliance with accounting standards, tax regulations, and statutory requirements.
• Assist with internal and external audits with required documentation.
• Implement and improve accounting policies for efficiency and controls.
• Collaborate with other departments for accurate data capture and reporting.
• Mentor junior staff and support budgeting processes.
