Placements24 is seeking a detail-oriented Purchasing Officer to join the Cape Town procurement team. The role supports day-to-day purchasing activities, sourcing suppliers, and maintaining budget-aligned purchases in a hybrid work setup.

You will collaborate with internal departments, optimize inventory levels, and contribute to cost-effective procurement. This is an ideal entry for someone with a solid foundation in procurement looking to grow within a professional environment.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as Purchasing Officer or in a similar procurement role.
• Familiarity with procurement processes and supply chain principles.
• Proficiency with purchasing software and MS Office, especially Excel.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• A degree or diploma in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management or related field is advantageous.
• Experience in a hybrid work model is preferred.
• Familiarity with the local South African market and supplier base.

Responsibilities

• Process purchase requisitions and issue purchase orders promptly.
• Source and compare quotes from suppliers to ensure competitive pricing and quality.
• Maintain records of purchase transactions with order details and payment terms.
• Monitor inventory levels and coordinate supplier deliveries.
• Assist in price and term negotiations under guidance of senior staff.
• Resolve issues related to orders, deliveries, or invoicing.
• Communicate purchasing requirements to internal teams clearly.
• Support strategic sourcing initiatives and supplier relationship management.
• Ensure compliance with purchasing policies and procedures.
• Prepare reports on purchasing activities as required.
