Placements24 is seeking a Process Optimization Chemical Engineer for its client in Pietermaritzburg, KwaZulu-Natal. The role focuses on analyzing and improving chemical processes to boost yield, reduce energy use, and cut waste within a dynamic manufacturing setting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's in Chemical Engineering from an accredited institution.
• Minimum of 5 years of process engineering experience in chemical manufacturing.
• Proven track record of implementing process improvements with measurable results.
• Proficiency in Aspen Plus or HYSYS and data analysis tools.
• Strong understanding of reaction engineering, thermodynamics, and fluid dynamics.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Conduct in-depth analysis of existing chemical processes to identify inefficiencies and bottlenecks.
• Design, develop, and implement process improvements to enhance yield and reduce energy use.
• Utilize simulation and modeling software to predict process behavior and test strategies.
• Collaborate with plant operations to troubleshoot issues and implement corrective actions.
• Develop and maintain process documentation including P&IDs and SOPs.
• Ensure changes comply with safety, environmental and quality standards.
• Monitor KPIs and report process performance to management.
• Participate in HAZOP studies and risk assessment activities.
• Stay updated on new technologies and best practices in chemical process engineering.
