Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Metallurgical Process Engineer in Polokwane to optimize mineral processing operations. The role focuses on maximizing metal recovery and product quality by designing, controlling, and improving beneficiation circuits.

You will use advanced metallurgical principles and process simulations to boost plant performance and reduce costs. The successful candidate has a minimum of 5 years in mineral processing, strong physics-chemistry knowledge, and proficiency with METSIM/HSC

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Metallurgical Engineering or Chemical Engineering.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in mineral processing plant operations or process development.
• Strong understanding of physicochemical principles relevant to mineral processing including comminution, solid-liquid separation, and hydrometallurgy/pyrometallurgy.
• Proficiency with process simulation software (METSIM, HSC Chemistry) and data analysis tools.
• Experience in troubleshooting and optimizing plant operations.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Analyze and optimize metallurgical process parameters (e.g., grinding, flotation, leaching) to improve metal recovery and concentrate grades.
• Conduct pilot plant testing and plant trials to evaluate new process technologies and circuit modifications.
• Develop and maintain process models and simulations to predict plant performance and identify areas for improvement.
• Troubleshoot operational issues and implement solutions to ensure consistent plant output and product quality.
• Monitor KPIs and generate regular reports on plant performance and metallurgical results.
• Collaborate with operational staff, geologists, and maintenance teams to ensure efficient and safe plant operation.
