Job summary

Placements24 seeks a skilled Mechanical Design Engineer in Durban to translate concepts into production-ready designs. You will use advanced 3D CAD tools to model, draft, and document components and assemblies, performing stress, thermal, and vibration analyses as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in mechanical design.
• Proficiency in CAD software: Inventor, SolidWorks, Fusion 360.
• Experience with FEA/CFD is a plus.
• Strong understanding of material properties, manufacturing processes, and design for manufacturability (DFM).
• Excellent visual, spatial, and conceptual design skills.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop mechanical components, assemblies, and systems from concept to production-ready drawings.
• Utilize 3D CAD software for modeling, drafting, and creating detailed technical documentation.
• Perform engineering analysis, including stress, thermal, and vibration analysis, to validate designs.
• Collaborate with manufacturing engineers to ensure designs are feasible and cost-effective for production.
• Participate in design reviews, providing constructive feedback and implementing necessary modifications.
• Stay abreast of new technologies and design methodologies to enhance product innovation.
