Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Junior Financial Accountant in Benoni, Gauteng. The role supports the finance team across GL maintenance, accounts payable/receivable, and reporting.

It offers hybrid work combining office duties in Benoni with remote flexibility and growth opportunities under senior accountants and the Financial Controller. The ideal candidate has a solid grasp of accounting fundamentals, 1–3 years in accounting, and a drive to develop further in GAAP/IFRS.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field.
• 1–3 years of accounting or bookkeeping experience.
• Solid understanding of GAAP/IFRS.
• Proficiency in Excel and experience with accounting software.

Responsibilities

• Assist in monthly financial statements and reports.
• Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions.
• Perform bank reconciliations and general ledger reconciliations.
• Assist with journals and accruals.
• Support month-end and year-end closing procedures.
• Maintain fixed asset registers and process depreciation.
• Assist with budget preparation and variance analysis.
• Ensure compliance with accounting policies and procedures.
• Support internal and external audits.
• Contribute to process improvements within the finance department.
