Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field.
• 1–3 years of accounting or bookkeeping experience.
• Solid understanding of GAAP/IFRS.
• Proficiency in Excel and experience with accounting software.

Responsibilities

• Assist in monthly financial statements and reports.
• Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions.
• Perform bank reconciliations and general ledger reconciliations.
• Assist with journals and accruals.
• Support month-end and year-end closing procedures.
• Maintain fixed asset registers and process depreciation.
• Assist with budget preparation and variance analysis.
• Ensure compliance with accounting policies and procedures.
• Support internal and external audits.
• Contribute to process improvements within the finance department.

About the Role

Our client is looking for an enthusiastic and driven Junior Financial Accountant to join their finance team in Benoni, Gauteng. This role is designed for an individual early in their accounting career, offering excellent opportunities for learning and professional growth. The Junior Financial Accountant will support the finance department in various accounting functions, including general ledger maintenance, accounts payable/receivable, and financial reporting. The successful candidate will work closely with senior accountants and the Financial Controller, gaining valuable experience across a range of accounting disciplines. Key Responsibilities

• Assist in the preparation of monthly financial statements and reports.
• Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions accurately.

Requirements

• Pursuing professional qualification such as ACCA, CIMA, or SAIPA is an advantage.
• 1-3 years of experience in an accounting or bookkeeping role.
• Solid understanding of accounting principles (GAAP/IFRS).
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience with accounting software (e.g., Pastel, QuickBooks).
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team in a hybrid setting, commuting to Benoni, Gauteng as required.
