Job summary

Placements24 in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal, seeks an experienced Employment Lawyer to advise on employment law matters, including compliance, disputes and transactional work. The role requires strong drafting and client-management skills and a thorough understanding of SA labour law.

The position offers a hybrid work arrangement, balancing remote work with in-office collaboration in our Durban office. A proactive attorney with 4+ years of post-admission experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree required.
• Admission as an Attorney in South Africa required.
• Minimum 4 years of post-admission experience in employment law.
• Strong knowledge of Labour Relations Act, BCEA, EEA and related legislation.

Responsibilities

• Advise employers on all aspects of employment law including hiring, termination, disciplinary processes and performance management.
• Draft and review employment contracts, policies and procedures.
• Represent clients in labour disputes including CCMA, Bargaining Council and court actions.
• Conduct workplace investigations and provide guidance on outcomes.
• Advise on mergers, acquisitions and restructurings from an employment-law perspective.
• Ensure compliance with current labour legislation and best practices.
• Provide training to clients on employment law issues.
• Stay updated on changes in employment law and related regulations.
• Manage client relationships and provide strategic legal counsel.
• Collaborate with other practice groups within the firm as needed.
