Job summary

Placements24 is assisting a renowned Cape Town-based legal practice in appointing a Commercial Litigation Associate. The role focuses on managing a diverse commercial disputes caseload, drafting key court documents, and contributing to case strategy alongside senior partners.

The ideal candidate must be admitted as an attorney with at least 3 years' experience in commercial litigation and be proficient in civil procedure, research databases, and case management software.

Qualifications

• Admitted Attorney with a minimum of 3 years in commercial litigation.
• Experience managing civil litigation from inception to conclusion.
• Strong understanding of civil procedure and South African law.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Proficient in legal research databases and case management software.

Responsibilities

• Conduct legal research and analysis on complex commercial litigation matters.
• Draft pleadings, affidavits, notices, and other court documents with precision.
• Manage discovery processes, including document review, interrogatories, and requests for admission.
• Represent clients in negotiations, mediations, arbitrations, and court appearances.
• Collaborate with partners on case strategy and client communication.
• Assist in preparation of settlement agreements and finalizing case resolutions.
