Key Responsibilities

• Manage all phases of commercial litigation matters, from inception to resolution.
• Conduct thorough legal research and draft persuasive pleadings, motions, and briefs.
• Prepare for and participate in examinations before courts, arbitrations, and mediations.
• Engage in discovery processes, including document review, interrogatories, and depositions.
• Advise clients on legal strategies, potential outcomes, and risk management.
• Collaborate effectively with partners, senior associates, and support staff on case strategy and execution.
• Negotiate settlements on behalf of clients where appropriate.
• Stay abreast of legislative changes and case law relevant to commercial litigation.
• Represent clients in court proceedings and alternative dispute resolution forums.

Requirements

• Admitted Attorney of the High Court of South Africa with at least 4 years of post-qualification experience in commercial litigation.
• Demonstrated experience in managing a caseload and appearing in various South African courts.
• Strong understanding of civil procedure rules and evidence law.
• Excellent research, writing, analytical, and advocacy skills.
• Proven ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
• Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to build rapport with clients and colleagues.
• Experience with various dispute resolution mechanisms is a plus.
• Commitment to upholding the highest professional and ethical standards.
• Proficiency in English is required; knowledge of Afrikaans or isiXhosa is beneficial.
