Job summary

Placements24 in South Africa seeks an Analytical Chemist to join its Pharmaceutical Development team in Tembisa. You will develop and validate analytical methods for raw materials and finished products, perform routine testing with HPLC, GC-MS, UV-Vis, and contribute to regulatory filings.

The ideal candidate holds a Master's or PhD in Analytical/Organic Chemistry with 3+ years in pharma analytics, knowledge of USP/EP, and a meticulous, data-driven approach.

Qualifications

• Master's or Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, or a related field.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in pharmaceutical analytical development or quality control.
• Proficiency with analytical instrumentation, particularly HPLC and GC-MS.
• Strong understanding of pharmacopeial methods (USP, EP) and regulatory guidelines (ICH).
• Excellent problem-solving abilities and meticulous data analysis and documentation.

Responsibilities

• Develop, validate, and implement analytical methods for raw materials, in-process samples, and finished drug products.
• Perform routine and non-routine testing using HPLC, GC-MS, UV-Vis, and titration.
• Characterize physical and chemical properties of drug substances and intermediates.
• Investigate out-of-specification results and deviations, identifying root causes and corrective actions.
• Contribute to analytical sections for regulatory filings (IND, NDA).
• Maintain laboratory equipment and ensure GLP and GMP compliance.
