Amazon Data Services South Africa (Pty) Ltd seeks an experienced Data Center HV/MV Specialist Engineer to manage high and medium voltage electrical infrastructure within the Cape Town facility. You will lead maintenance, safety compliance, and cross‑functional collaboration with EOTs, facility managers, and external vendors to ensure uptime.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Experience moving design concepts through development to deployment.
• Experience in project management for data center/infrastructure.
• HV and MV switching accreditation is required.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day operations and maintenance of MV/HV infrastructure.
• Operate independently with limited direct supervision.
• Assist in design and build out of new MV/HV facility infrastructure.
• Act as escalation point for facilities-related issues and support OT hours as needed.
• Perform root cause analysis of MV/HV equipment failures.
• Create and deploy standard practices for EOTs, Chief Engineers, and vendor support teams.
• Provide training and guidance to EOTs and assisting in recruiting efforts for the same.
• Ensure all safety procedures are adhered to by vendor and Amazon staff.
• Utilize internal Change Management Systems to manage building workflows.
• MV/HV Isolation to facilitate MV/HV maintenance.
• Provide metric availability reporting on a weekly basis.
• Support all regions in the MEA
• Communicate complex technical information to a non-technical audience.
