Job summary

Candi Solar is recruiting an ambitious Health, Safety and Environment Officer to lead HSE across its South African solar asset portfolio. The role covers policy development, incident tracking, training, and regulatory reporting, with on-site and hybrid work from Johannesburg/Durban and remote options.

The successful candidate will have 3–5 years HSE experience, relevant safety qualifications, and ISO 45001/14001 familiarity, plus willingness to travel nationally.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3–5 years’ HSE experience.
• Experience conducting workplace/site inspections.
• Experience working with contractors/service providers.
• Good understanding of South African OHS legislation.
• Experience with HSE documentation and reporting.
• Strong report-writing and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain HSE policies and procedures.
• Track, record, and report incidents, near-misses, and safety violations.
• Coordinate safety training programs for employees.
• Prepare safety communications, newsletters, and posters.
• Maintain safety records, certifications, permits, and logs.
• Submit regulatory reports required by environmental and occupational health agencies.
• Support HSE representative with committee meetings and initiatives.
• Manage EPC and contractor HSE files and workflows.
• Conduct site inspections and ensure HSE assurance.
• Oversee incident and emergency management.
• Ensure legal and regulatory compliance; track HSE KPIs.
• Facilitate training and awareness; engage stakeholders.
