Job summary

Candi is hiring a Health, Safety and Environment Officer to lead HSE across our South Africa solar asset portfolio. You will develop and implement HSE policies, track incidents, coordinate training, and ensure regulatory compliance while engaging with contractors and service providers.

This role combines on-site SA work with remote/home-based duties. Ideal candidates have 3–5 years HSE experience, ISO 45001/14001 exposure, and a valid driver’s license.

Qualifications

• Relevant HSE/Safety qualification.
• SAMTRAC or equivalent qualification.
• Experience with incident investigations and root-cause analysis.
• Experience with ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 standards.
• Min 3–5 years HSE experience in a related environment.
• Experience with site inspections and contractor oversight.
• Solid knowledge of SA OHS legislation and compliance.
• Experience with HSE documentation and reporting.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel nationally.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement and maintain HSE policies and procedures.
• Track and report incidents, near-misses and safety violations.
• Coordinate safety training programs for staff.
• Prepare safety communications, newsletters and posters.
• Maintain safety records, permits and logs.
• Submit regulatory reports to agencies.
• Support HSE committee activities and initiatives.
• Manage EPC and contractor HSE files and asset safety administration.
• Conduct site inspections and ensure HSE compliance.
• Oversee incident and emergency management and KPI reporting.
