Job summary

Dwarsrivier Chrome Mine (Pty) Ltd invites applications for a dedicated training assessor with extensive underground trackless machine experience. The role focuses on transferring theoretical and practical skills to learners, coordinating simulator-based training, and ensuring licenses and safety requirements are maintained in a mining environment.

You will conduct assessments, manage resources, and execute the training program in alignment with the mine’s standards and safety regulations,

Qualifications

• Minimum Grade 12 / Std 10 with relevant training accreditation.
• ODETDP Level 4 or Assessor/Facilitator or Train the Trainer certificate.
• UG TMM certificates or skills programmes (e.g., Drill Rig, Roofbolter).
• Competent B certificate and Code 08 (B) driver's licence or higher.

Responsibilities

• Administer, record and transfer theoretical and practical TMM knowledge to learners.
• Monitor licenses, schedule assessments and renewals; train incumbents on the simulator and PTOs.
• Arrange training resources; maintain attendance registers and required administration.
• Deliver training programs per the Annual Training Schedule; conduct follow-up and re-training.
• Conduct final theoretical and practical assessments for learner competence.
• Ensure training areas and equipment are clean and properly stored after use.
• Ensure learner health and safety and maintain discipline to support effective learning.
• Submit POE and conduct assessments for licenses; monitor license validity.

Job description

The successful applicant will report to the HRD Officer or nominee.

MINIMUM EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Grade 12/Standard 10 Certificate.
• Certificate ODETDP Level 4 or Assessor’s & Facilitator / Train the Trainer Certificate.
• UG TMM Certificates / Skills Programmes e.g Drill Rig, Roofbolter.
• Competent B Certificate.
• Code 08 (B) Driver’s Licence or higher.

EXPERIENCE (including but not limited to):

• 5 years extensive practical Trackless machine operator underground experience, of which 1 - 2 years practical Training, facilitation and presentation experience.
• Advantageous: 1 - 2 years practical Virtual Simulation Training.

DUTIES (including but not limited to):

• Successfully administer, record and transfer the required knowledge (Theoretical and Practical component of TMM), skills, and attitude to a learner to perform his/her duties at the required set standards in a mining environment. To continuously monitor expiry dates of mine licenses, schedule assessments and renew licenses upon demonstration of learner’s competence. Training incumbents on the simulator and PTOs..
• Arrange training resources, i.e. venue, data projectors, computers, licenses with assistance from others. Perform assigned administration functions accurately and timeously. Complete Attendance Registers.
• Conduct training programs according to the Annual Training Schedule, and re-training as requested by line management. Facilitate training programs in a simulation/ Lecturer/ workplace environment. Follow-up and monitor training. Perform Ad Hoc duties as requested by supervisor. Perform daily PTOs as required. Conduct follow-up training.
• Conduct final theoretical and practical assessments to ensure competence of learners.
• Ensure relevant training area and equipment is always clean. Ensure all training resources are stored after use.
• Ensure health and safety of all learners and learning environment. Assume responsibility for effective discipline of learners. Ensure effective learning takes place by continuously assessing the knowledge, skills and attitude of the learners.
• Perform diagnostic assessments, do corrective training and administer final competence declaration on TMM learners and operators on relevant simulators.
• Train learner/operator on relevant machine at the Surface Test Facility. Conduct formative assessment on driving skills. Submit POE to supervisor for issuing of temporary license.
• Conduct relevant training and/ or final assessment in the actual workplace, e.g. underground. Submit summative assessment to supervisor for issuing of permanent license.
• Conduct PTO’s in the actual workplace to ensure application of learned skills and competencies.
• Update license monitoring system timeously and accurately. Regularly monitor system to ensure legal compliance.
