Job summary

Implats is seeking an HRD Co-ordinator focused on Education, Bursaries, AET and Education Assistance. The role plans, directs and coordinates HRD activities in alignment with policy and procedure, maximising training and development across the workforce.

You will manage budgeting, reporting, and strategic HRD initiatives to support organisational change, safety, and workforce development in the mining context.

Qualifications

  • Grade 12/NQF4 equivalent is essential.
  • HR/HRD Diploma/Degree or NQF 6/7 equivalent is essential.
  • 6-10 years’ experience within an Education/Training environment is essential.
  • Must have a valid medical certificate or be medically fit to obtain such a certificate.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, direct and coordinate bursaries, AET and education-related activities.
  • Allocate Education Assistance in line with company policies.
  • Provide departmental business plans and management reports for senior management.
  • Ensure HRD Education department aligns with HRD strategy and safety standards.
  • Monitor end-to-end talent pipeline (bursaries, internships, cadetships) and report outcomes.
  • Support change management and transformation initiatives.

HRD Co-ordinator: Education: D2 will plan, direct and coordinate Bursaries, Adult Education and Training, Education Assistance and HRD Education activities. Maximise the strategic use of HRD functions such as training and development, recruitment, and selection of bursary and AET students and allocation of Education Assistance aligned to company policies and procedures.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:
  • Ensures that employees are selected for Adult Education and Training (AET).
  • Ensures that Education Assistance/Study Aids for employee development are allocated and approved according to policies and procedures.
  • Provides a Departmental Business Plan to the Finance Department.
  • Submits reports to Senior Management to be used in different forums.
  • Ensures SLP Commitments are achieved.
  • Ensures that the HRD Education department is running according to the HRD Strategy.
  • Supports and participates in change management initiatives to drive transformation and optimisation.
  • Adheres to safety regulations and mine standards, procedures and practices and reports non-compliance.

  • Participates in regular safety meetings and makes recommendations to ensure overall safety.
  • Performs regular inspections in area of work and report hazards to ensure environment is safety and hazard free and recommends remedial action where necessary.
  • Manage and report on the end-to-end talent pipeline, including Bursaries, Graduate Internship, Appointed Graduates, Mining and Engineering Learnerships, Cadetships, and Supervisory Development Programmes, ensuring alignment with workforce plans, succession requirements and business needs.
  • Monitor programme outcomes, learner progression, absorption, appointments, promotions and retention, and provide management information and executive reports to support strategic decision-making.
  • Provide strategic oversight of the HRD talent pipeline by driving the development and progression through Career Development Panels, ensuring a sustainable pipeline for operational continuity and future leadership requirements.
