Job summary

Staff Solutions is seeking an experienced HR leader to drive human resources strategy for a new organisation/project in South Africa. The role requires managing Section 197 transfers, policy development, and end-to-end recruitment while ensuring compliance with South African labour legislation.

You will oversee payroll, HR administration, and training coordination, guiding management and supervisors, and supporting culture and change initiatives across the site and national levels.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Human Resources, Industrial Psychology, or a related field.
• Minimum 5–8 years’ HR generalist experience, with at least 3 years at management level.
• Proven experience managing Section 197 transfers
• Strong knowledge of South African labour legislation
• Experience with recruitment, payroll oversight, HR administration, and training coordination
• Excellent interpersonal, organisational, and communication skills
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a project-based environment
• Payroll system experience (e.g. Sage, VIP, PaySpace, or similar)

Responsibilities

• Lead site leadership team participation and coordination.
• Manage Section 197 transfer processes including onboarding and consultation.
• Establish and implement HR policies, procedures, and systems for the new organisation/project.
• Lead end-to-end recruitment for new roles to meet project staffing requirements.
• Oversee HR administration, including contracts, employee records, leave management, and disciplinary processes.
• Coordinate payroll processing, ensuring accuracy and legislative compliance.
• Ensure compliance with BCEA, LRA, EEA, and UIF.
• Develop and implement training and skills development initiatives.
• Act as the primary point of contact for employee relations matters.
• Provide HR guidance and support to management and line supervisors.
• Support organisational culture, change management, and team integration.
• Develop KPIs to measure and ensure a motivated, performance-focussed corporate culture.
• Report periodically on all HR related topics to regional and national leadership.
