Job summary

Franschhoek Boutique Hotel in Franschhoek is seeking a Housekeeping Porter to support room readiness and guest comfort. You will stock, clean, and arrange rooms, assist with amenities, and ensure cleanliness across areas in a fast-paced environment.

Successful candidates will have matric, strong English communication, physical endurance, and a driver’s license. Luxury-hotel experience is valued and night shifts are required.

Qualifications

• Matric certificate is required or equivalent.
• Good communication in English is essential.
• High level of physical endurance and ability to work shifts including night shifts.
• Valid driver’s license is preferred.
• Experience in a luxury hotel or similar environment is advantageous.
• Knowledge of cleaning products, techniques and methods.

Responsibilities

• Supply rooms with clean linen, towels and supplies; collect dirty laundry and deliver items.
• Perform deep cleaning tasks including carpets, windows, mattresses and high dusting.
• Set up guest rooms with special amenities or decorations for occasions.
• Stock mini bars and record usage; ensure trolleys and serving gear are prepared.
• Transport housekeeping staff to areas as needed (Leeu Estates only).
• Rotational cleaning of public areas and maintain furniture and equipment.
• Move furniture when required and assist with porter duties.
• Coordinate with outsourced laundry and related functions.
• Attend to guest requests and inquiries courteously and efficiently.
• Adhere to Health and Safety standards at all times.

Job description

Boutique Hotel based in Franschhoek is looking for a Housekeeping Porter.

You will excel in this role if you are flexible and able to multitask working at a faster than average speed. Your high level of attention to detail with excellent organisational skills, and the ability to learn and adapt in the environment they work in will be essential.

Duties:

• Assist housekeeping through supplying rooms with clean linen, towels, supplies and collect dirty laundry and deliver other relevant items
• Perform deep cleaning tasks, such as carpet cleaning, window washing, mattrass cleaning, high dusting and furniture and curtain rail polishing.
• Assist with setting up guest rooms with special amenities or decorations for special occasions.
• Ensure mini bars are correctly stocked and recorded.
• In room bar trolleys to be set-up correctly as per menu list with the accompanying serving gear i.e. corkscrew, coasters etc.
• Assist with transporting of housekeepers to various areas via golf carts (Leeu Estates only)
• Perform rotational cleaning duties (including all public areas) and ensure that all furnishes, facilities and equipment are in good repair
• Assist with moving furniture where required and additional duties such as Porter
• Assist with the dispatch and receiving of outsourced laundry and all functions related to this
• Ensure guest satisfaction by performing such duties as attending to their request and enquiries courteously and efficiently
• Adhere to and maintain Health and Safety standards

Requirements:

• Matric Certificate
• Good communication skills in English
• High level of physical endurance
• Valid driver’s license
• Ability to work shifts including night shift
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in a luxury hotel or similar
• Knowledge of cleaning products, techniques and methods
