Job summary

The President Hotel in Bantry Bay, Cape Town, seeks an experienced Hotel Duty Manager to lead the on‑shift operations and keep guest experience as the priority across all departments in our 349‑room property.

You will be on the floor, coordinate Front Office, Food & Beverage, Housekeeping, Kitchen, Maintenance and Security, and take ownership of guest concerns through to resolution. A hospitality qualification and 3–5 years’ relevant experience are required.

Qualifications

• Hospitality diploma or degree required.
• 3–5 years hotel operations experience in 4- or 5-star property.
• Duty manager experience in a 4- or 5-star hotel or luxury resort.
• Strong knowledge of OPERA PMS or similar PMS.
• Strong leadership, communication and interpersonal skills with ability to coach teams.

• Act as Hotel Manager on Duty and oversee smooth operation of all departments during your shift.
• Coordinate Front Office, Food & Beverage, Housekeeping, Kitchen, Maintenance, Security and other teams.
• Stay visible in guest areas and engage with guests to anticipate needs.
• Lead from the floor, support teams during peak periods and coach staff to maintain service standards.
• Monitor service delivery and ensure SOPs are followed during shift handover.

As Hotel Duty Manager, you will lead the operation on shift and ensure the guest experience remains the priority in every decision. The President Hotel in Bantry Bay, Cape Town, is seeking an experienced Hotel Duty Manager to oversee daily operations across all departments of our 349-room hotel. As the hotel representative on duty, you will stay visible on the floor, coordinate guest-facing and back-of-house teams, and step in wherever needed to keep the hotel running smoothly. As we continue our journey toward luxury, we are looking for a manager who understands how a busy hotel operates, makes sound decisions under pressure and takes ownership of guest concerns through to resolution

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

• A hospitality qualification diploma or degree.
• 3 to 5 years of hotel operations experience, with exposure to both Front Office and Food and Beverage in a 4-star or 5-star property.
• Previous duty management experience in a 4 or 5 star hotel or luxury resort, with proven experience managing both Front Office and Food and Beverage operations.
• Strong working knowledge of OPERA PMS or a similar property management system and a sound understanding of Food and Beverage service operations.
• Strong leadership, communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to coach and motivate teams across departments.
• Sound judgement and the ability to stay calm, make decisions and resolve guest concerns promptly.
• South African citizenship and a valid South African ID.
• Flexibility to work shifts, weekends and public holidays.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Act as Hotel Manager on Duty and oversee the smooth running of all operational departments throughout your shift.
• Coordinate Front Office, Food and Beverage, Housekeeping, Kitchen, Maintenance, Security and other teams to resolve issues and maintain service.
• Stay visible in guest areas, engage with guests and anticipate needs before they become concerns.
• Keep check-ins, check-outs, reservations and guest services running smoothly while monitoring service across Food and Beverage outlets.
• Take ownership of guest requests and complaints, coordinate practical solutions and follow up to ensure concerns are resolved.
• Lead from the floor, support teams during peak periods and coach staff to maintain consistent service standards.
• Monitor service delivery, ensure standard operating procedures are followed and communicate outstanding issues clearly at shift handover.
• Oversee cashiering, billing and audit procedures to ensure accuracy and compliance.
• Uphold professional presentation and guest service standards, and lead by example through Teamwork, Respect, Innovation, Accountability, Passion and Integrity.
