Job summary

Department of Health in Pretoria is seeking a skilled HTS counsellor to oversee HIV Testing Services at the Sub-District level. You will provide technical support to CHWs and supervise HTS staff across facilities and outreach services.

The role requires a degree in Health and Social Science, at least 3 years HTS experience, and strong knowledge of HAST guidelines. You will work independently and in teams, with duties including QA/QC, data reporting, and coordinating outreach campaigns.

Qualifications

• Degree in Health and Social Science.
• Minimum of 3 years working experience within HTS counselling and testing.
• Strong knowledge of current HAST policies and guidelines.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Experience in training and supervising staff.
• Proficiency in data analysis and reporting.
• Computer literacy.
• Valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Oversee implementation of HIV Testing Services at Sub-District level and provide technical support and mentoring for CHWs in HAST.
• Train and supervise HIV testing staff in facilities and outreach services.
• Ensure adherence to national HIV testing guidelines and protocols; conduct QA/QC activities.
• Collaborate with stakeholders and monitor/evaluate HTS including data analysis and reporting.
• Provide counselling and support services to clients as needed; address barriers to testing and linkage to care.
• Coordinate outreach campaigns with intergovernmental departments, NPOs, private sectors and CBOs.
