Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Substation Technician in Benoni to maintain, test, and repair high-voltage substation equipment. You will work on critical infrastructure ensuring reliable electricity supply in Gauteng.

The role requires a Trade Test Certificate (Electrician) or a National Diploma in Electrical Engineering and at least 4 years of relevant experience. You will follow safety protocols and document all activities, with opportunities for training and career growth.

Qualifications

• Strong understanding of high-voltage electrical systems and substations.
• Proficiency in using test equipment such as TTR testers and insulation resistance testers.
• Knowledge of protection relays and their testing procedures.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine inspections, testing, and maintenance on substation equipment, including transformers, circuit breakers, and relays.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical faults and equipment failures within substations.
• Assist in the installation and commissioning of new substation components and systems.
• Ensure all work is performed in strict accordance with safety protocols and industry standards.
• Maintain accurate records of all maintenance, testing, and repair activities performed.
• Operate and maintain specialized testing equipment used in substation maintenance.
